Eat well, lose weight and get fit

Lets face it, we all want to be in better shape and improve our health and that takes effort and discipline….and a well thought out plan. But who has extra time to spend shopping and cooking? Several years ago I knew that I needed to get in better shape and I so badly wanted to lose 15 or 20 pounds but was stuck at 5 and no matter how much harder I exercised I could not break through that wall. I tried everything, more weights, interval training, more cardio….no results. I almost gave up when our family was faced with some serious medical issues that required significant dietary changes. I won’t bore you with all of the details but we started with a book called The Plan by Lyn-Genet Recitas. This is not a count your calories, go hungry and end up miserable plan, this book is packed with information on how the proper foods will actually heal your body in addition to providing much needed nourishment. This book made our adjustment super simple because she provides a grocery list, complete recipes and lots of encouragement. Over the course of 1 weekend we were able to reset our eating habits and begin a journey towards better health. I broke through that wall like it was paper and lost an additional 20 pounds (in just 2 months) using the simple strategies in this book. Not only that, I was able to get off of multiple medications that doctors said I would need for the rest of my life (shows what they know). In addition to losing the weight, I no longer felt tired or sleepy in the middle of the afteroon, my energy level stayed constant throughout the day and my seasonal allergies disappeared. Talk about transformation! Don’t misunderstand me, it wasn’t easy but to say it was worth it is a huge understatement.
